Falling

yesterday (Canadian Thanksgiving) our extended family ate and visited together at my sister's home.
After an incredible meal some of us took the little kids and trekked over to a near-by park.

We played in the leaves :)
and I laid on my back
watched them fall from the maple trees and smelled deeply the scent of earth and sky...
while giddy children dumped piles on my head and down my back
laughing... hugging... tickling..
so beautiful..

there is healing there...in a pile of dead leaves
graciously decomposing to bring life
to next years' growth

but winter stands between the fall,
the falling and the rising...

and where nothing appears to be happening
and all is silent
is the season of greatest preparation for life

so; in my winter; may i be still
and know
that He is God..
and I am not
and may i die well
and with grace...
